Do you remember that giveaway I participated in May? I cannot believe it has been seven months since then. I am going to give my handmade things away again for this Sew, Mama, Sew blog Giveaway Day.
So as you will notice on Sew, Mama, Sew blog , the competition will close on the December 17th . To enter please leave a comment on this post to answer these three questions about purchasing patterns online. Entries will be taken from today until December 17th and I will draw the winner randomly on December 18th. The items will be sent from USA, and I will ship internationally.
The questions are ....
1) What kind of patterns do you want to buy online? Embroidery? Sewing clothes? Quilts? Making purses? Or something else?
2) Have you ever purchased any kinds of patterns online?
3) Do you prefer PDF type (you download the file and print it out to use) or Paper type (you receive the pattern already printed on papers)?
If you have any particular patterns you really like, I would love to hear about it too!
There are the items I will give away this time. They all go to one person who wins this giveaway. A set of a little box and two sachets which are embellished with silk ribbon embroidery.
I am not going to put any scent in the sachets. So you could use them to store your jewelry in it or put your favorite fragrance inside. I hope many people will enter this giveaway and would love to hear from you! Happy Giveaway Day!
1) What kind of patterns do you want to buy online? I like Embroidery,Quilts & purses
ReplyDelete2) Have you ever purchased any kinds of patterns online? Yes quite a few.
3) Do you prefer PDF type, yes sometimes if I want it now for last minute gift etc.
Pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI buy a lot of patterns on etsy for all kinds of things - purses, bags, pouches, shoes, stuffies, etc. I've bought sewing, knitting, and crochet patterns. I stick to smaller stuff, so those are the kinds of patterns I like. I'm not brave enough to sew clothes yet.
Personally, I prefer already printed patterns, and the best ones I've gotten have actually come on cloth so they're reusable, don't tear, and are easier to use.
I like to buy patterns for cute baby clothes, I have bought a couple online. PDF is nice if you want to start on something right away!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful...what a lovely giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have lots of patterns, from books to pdfs to regular paper patterns. I have purchased online and have a variety of patterns for bags, quilts, and clothing. Though quilting, bags, and craft sewing are my favorite!
Hi! I'm from Italy
ReplyDelete1) I like Quilts
2) I buy a few
3) I PDF type
:) TY
First of all that's really cute box. Lucky the one who'll win it. Answering your questions:
ReplyDelete1. I love to embroider, so so far I bought a couple of embroidery patterns. I was also thinking about sewing a handbag and for this one I'd definitely need to buy a ready pattern.
2.I bought online some magazines with embroidery patterns
3. So far I've been buying paper type, but when choosing PDF format you save money on delivery - that matters especially when you buy in a shop outside your country. Therefore I don't say no PDF :).
What beautiful little treasures! I don't do patterns at all - I don't sew. I needlefelt and spin and paint.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful keepsakes!!
ReplyDeleteI love quilt and crochet patterns. I have purchased both. I prefer them in paper form, so I can just add them to my pattern box. However I have purchased PDF patterns as well.
Thanks for the great giveaway!
h_freund@hotmail.com
I've purchased a jewelry pattern on line, but haven't used it yet. It was a pdf - really more of a tutorial
ReplyDeleteneedlegrrl at gmail
How beautiful! The only patterns I've purchased online are knitting patterns.
ReplyDeleteI've purchased a few pattern books and paper patterns online. I have tried downloading a couple of free sewing patterns, but I'm not crazy about ones that I have to tape together (for larger items).
ReplyDeleteMy daughter would love the items you're giving away. She has lots of treasures that I'm sure would fill the little box.

How pretty! I haven't purchased any patterns online before, because I'm not much of a sewer! :) haha
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I buy patterns on Etsy - usually sewing of some kind. I like the PDF files because if I'm buying online it's usually something I've seen somewhere or something I've searched for -- and I want to start right then and there! :) Being patient...it's my new years resolution!
ReplyDeleteAmanda

1. Doll clothes patterns for American Girl dolls.
ReplyDelete2. I have purchased patterns for quilts and doll clothes on line.
3. I prefer pdf. That way I can get started right away.
I've not purchased patterns online...yet. Your giveaway is adorable. Thank you.
ReplyDelete1) What kind of patterns do you want to buy online? Embroidery? Sewing clothes? Quilts? Making purses? Or something else?
ReplyDeleteI've actually bought most of my patterns online (and on Etsy actually). I do mostly sewing, and have bought patterns for clothes, hats, shoes, stuffed toys, purses, bags, quilts . . . you name it!
2) Have you ever purchased any kinds of patterns online?
See above! ;)
3) Do you prefer PDF type (you download the file and print it out to use) or Paper type (you receive the pattern already printed on papers)? I actually prefer PDF because then I can make extra copies in case I cut one weird or want to make 2 dresses out of the same pattern in different sizes. It's also a handy way to be able to store them without cluttering up my sewing room. :)
I've bought quilting patterns online and download them. . . and just pull them up on the laptop if I need to reference them.
ReplyDeleteYour giveaways is precious!
Thanks for the chance to win!
I'm mostly interested in kids clothing patterns and I prefer pdf format
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely! I haven't purchased a pattern online yet. I am interested in kids' clothes. I like when I can print pdf patterns at home (rather than on oversized paper at a shop). I don't really like taping the papers together though but it beats paying for shipping sometimes. :) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful! Thanks for the chance to win them!
ReplyDeleteI have only ever purchased knitting patterns online, though I have contemplated buying clothing patterns. I do not quilt and rarely embroider. I love PDF patterns, but would only buy a paper pattern if the pattern would need to be resized from the PDF pattern (ex: if the pattern would need to be enlarged some percentage). Hope this helps!
Honestly, I don't really use patterns. The stuff I sew I do by hand and just go for it! It's sort of how I work! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI like embroidery patterns, PDF and I have purchased patterns online:)
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm Kerry from NY.
ReplyDelete1. I use clothes patterns mostly, some cloth diaper patterns, and I do drool over purse and quilt patterns but have yet to buy any.
2. Yes, I have bought clothing patterns, diaper patterns, and trainer patterns online.
3. I prefer PDF for patterns that fit on 4 sheets of paper tops, if I'm going to have to tape 9 pages together I'd much prefer waiting for a printed pattern in the mail.
Thanks for offering such a great giveaway!
This giveaway is wonderful. I love the box!
ReplyDeleteYour questions:
1) I want buy sewing patterns, for things like purses, fabric boxes, etc.
2) Yes, I have. I purchased one recently for how to make a plush elephant.
3) I like PDF, because if I ever lost it, I could just print out another
1. I love sewing patterns.
ReplyDelete2. Yes I have bought patterns online.
3. Yes I have used PDF download and print type.
Thanks for the chance to win such loveliness. : )
1) Sewing childrens clothes, Making purses, toys
ReplyDelete2) yes - The Little Cap fromLeila & Ben
3) Do you prefer PDF type (you download the file and print it out to use) or Paper type (you receive the pattern already printed on papers)?
depends PDF are great because you can start straight away, but not so good if you have a large pattern like adults clothes, then I would prefer paper.
1) The patterns I want to buy are for kids clothing - stylish hats or hoodies
ReplyDelete2) I'm SO new to sewing, but I would purchase the right pattern online, i prefer it to trying to take the kids to the shop!
3) PDF type
These are so pretty. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDelete1) I like knitting, embroidery, and sewing (bags, kid clothes) patterns.
2) But I have not purchased any yet, even though I have a few bookmarked, because there are so many gorgeous free ones and I want to become a little more skilled before I purchase a pattern online.
3) I prefer PDF patterns (convenient, free shipping) UNLESS the pattern is for a large item and piecing together all of those printed pages is tricky. Even kids' clothes patterns can be frustrating to print and tape.
Oh, how lovely!
ReplyDelete1) What kind of patterns do you want to buy online? I'd be looking for embroidery patterns and garment sewing patterns (especially bigger girls sizes 8 thru 16)
2) Have you ever purchased any kinds of patterns online? Oh, yes! I've purchased patterns for toys, baby clothing, and children's clothing.
3) Do you prefer PDF type (you download the file and print it out to use) or Paper type (you receive the pattern already printed on papers)? It depends upon the pattern. For small things like toys and baby clothing the pdf files work well. I prefer paper patterns for larger clothing, though, as I'm not too fond of taping. ;)
Beautiful box. Now on to the questions:
ReplyDelete1) What kind of patterns do you want to buy online? Embroidery? Sewing clothes? Quilts? Making purses? Or something else?
Embroidery for sure. Much cheaper online. I've bought clothes patterns online occasionally.
2) Have you ever purchased any kinds of patterns online?
Yes.
3) Do you prefer PDF type (you download the file and print it out to use) or Paper type (you receive the pattern already printed on papers)?
That's a toss up. For clothes patterns paper patterns are more convenient. But pdf is so much faster to get to me and no shipping! :)
Thanks for the giveaway.
I buy patterns online that are PDFs and are for sewing cute toys and baby/child clothing.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes buy pursepatterns. keyka lou's patterns are very clear and well written
ReplyDeleteI love this...and love lavender sachets! I like to get handbag patterns online...pdf is fine with me! I usually try to find free ones...with a tutorial! Thanks! ♥
ReplyDeleteWhen I do buy a pattern which is rare, it is a doll, fantasy type, Halloween pattern or if it is unique I have bought other types.
ReplyDeleteI much prefer a PDF format!
Lovely little bags and ribbon work! Wonderful giveaway!
So lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm participating in the Sew, Mama, Sew Giveaway Day! I hope you have time to stop over and enter my giveaway at homemakerhoney.com

I go to Etsy for patterns because I love unique stuff! I always want the PDF version .. easier to "store" them ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful giveaway! Happy holidays to you and yours! <3
krencamp(at)gmail(dot)com
1- Yes, sewing.
ReplyDelete2- Mostly kids clothing.
3- If it is for bigger things, I like the paper patterns (so I don't have to piece the pages together). Smaller things, I like PDF.
nachoandtdog at gmail dot com
I've bought some knitting instructions. I received them printed on heavy paper, protected in plastic sheets... I love them, I love the way they look when they get old.. I like pdf too, because I feel free to write and take notes on my sheets when I know I'll be able to print another one if necessary.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to purchase patterns online but would love some quilting ones. PDF format is ideal. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI like to buy clothes and purse patterns (or something similar) online. I have purchased a few patterns online, but not very many. I prefer pdf.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful giveaway. Thank you for sharing

I've bought PDF patterns online of stuffed animals, but ordinarily I buy the paper patterns from a local store. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeletePDF patterns of Purses and softies and baby shoes.
ReplyDeleteThey aren't too bad to print. For clothing and such, I prefer a printed pattern.
The gifts are LOVELY! My daughter would squeal with delight to get them for xmas!
I buy embroidery and sewing patterns, but mostly sewing patterns online. I don't have a preference between paper or pdf, but I can tell you that what will stop me in my tracks is paying more for a pdf than I think you should. A paper pattern you are paying for the paper, ink, packaging supplies, etc and I can understand paying a little more for those. PDF's should be a touch cheaper since they don't include any of those things, but that's just my humble opinion! I live somewhere where it isn't easy to go to the store and buy patterns, etc. so I do lots of shopping on line like this.
ReplyDeletelimes.sweet(at)gmail(dot)com
What a beautiful box and sachets! I love your work, especially your modern zippy pouches.
ReplyDeleteI like to buy bag, quilt and embroidery patterns. I like .pdf downloads but I find that I forget I have them and don't really use them.
Thanks for sharing your pretty work! Please give my give away a try, too!
1. If i were to buy it would probably a girls dress.
ReplyDelete2. never bought any
3. I would like a pdf to have it right away.
The type of pattern I am most likely to buy is for children's clothing.
ReplyDeleteI did buy one online, and it was a PDF. I like that because it is generally quicker and cheaper. I don't mind printing the pages and taping them together, it isn't any more work than a paper pattern and it lays more flat than a folded one would.
These are AMAZING! I mean truly beautiful and so well done!!!!! I am so excited about this giveaway. I would be so proud to own this! THANK YOU FOR A GREAT GIVEAWAY!!!!!!
ReplyDeletei have bought knitting patterns and sewing patterns for children's clothes online. for knitting patterns i prefer pdfs but for sewing i prefer hard copies.
ReplyDeletethanks for the chance to win - this would be a wonderful heirloom gift for my daughter!
What a beautiful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI like to buy clothing and bag patterns. I've purchased them online, and I prefer the paper ones to the pdf ones.
Thanks for your generosity!

ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law would absolutely love this.

Hi! Your handmade items are absolutely beautiful and I am so happy to enter your give away. So, to answer your questions:
ReplyDelete1. I sew mostly bags so I have been purchasing mostly bag patterns. However, I've recently gotten into quilting so am interested in purchasing quilt patterns also.
2. Yes, I have purchased a lot of bag patterns, both from Etsy shops and from other retailers, and I have purchased a few quilt patterns.
3. I prefer PDF patterns because I can receive them immediately after I purchase them and print them on my own paper. And, if I mess up the pattern, I have the file so I can print out another copy.
Thank you so much for your generous give away, and Merry Christmas to you and your family and all the best in the New Year!
Cyndi
These sachets are absolutely darling! They would fit the color scheme perfectly in one of my rooms! Such pretty colors... remind me of the coolness of Springtime :)
ReplyDeleteI would like to buy quilt patterns the most out of the selection.
I have never purchased online, but would be interested.
I like the pdf downloads the best -- they are great!!!
Thanks so much :) I really really really hope I win!
I buy embroidery patterns online. I prefer having actual paper, but I have bought .pdf's. It's just, transferring it to fabric is so touch and go for me.
ReplyDeleteI rarely buy any patterns online, but when I do they are usually embroidery/cross stitch patterns. Sometimes sewing patterns. I don't really have a preference between the two different types; sometimes PDF is easier, though, just because you simply download them and you have it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
embyrfire(at)hotmail(dot)com
I haven't bought many patterns online. I have bought some on clothes making and one for cart covers. I am not too particular as I dabble a little in several craft/sewing projects quilts, clothes and more.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty...
ReplyDelete1) What kind of patterns do you want to buy online? - Sewing and knitting patterns, mostly for clothing.
2) Have you ever purchased any kinds of patterns online? Yes - an apron pattern and several knitting ones.
3) Do you prefer PDF type (you download the file and print it out to use) or Paper type (you receive the pattern already printed on papers)? I think each has it's own advantages but I like the instant nature of the PDF pattern and being able to shop online is a bonus.
Wow, that is an awesome giveaw!
ReplyDeleteI've never sewed anything before, but I've always wanted to try to make my own bag from a pattern. I think I'd like PDF more than paper.
I would buy children's clothes patterns. I haven't bought any online yet. And I think pdf ones would be good.

I would like to see craft patterns - stuffed animals, clever sewing accessories, hussifs, etc. I have purchased patterns online. I prefer paper patterns. Otherwise, when the computer goes all the patterns go with it!

The box and sachets are absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI look for pretty much any type of pattern online, depending on the project I'm planning on working on. I've purchased patterns online. While I prefer patterns on paper, the pdf patterns can be very, very handy, and for smaller patterns that you don't have to tape a lot of pages together, I would say they definitely have the advantage. Pdfs are usually a bit cheaper, too, which is a huge consideration for me. For larger patterns, I prefer them already full-size, but then you have to pay shipping and wait, which is a bummer. ;) Thank you for the giveaway!
1) I'm a sucker for purse and bag patterns.
ReplyDelete2) I've purchased a few bag patterns on etsy.
3) All about the .pdf. I like to print the patterns on cardstock whenever possible, so that I can cut them out and trace them directly onto the fabric.
Thanks!
I like bag/purse patterns
ReplyDeleteI have purchased several online
PDF or printed??? well although I prefer printed, a PDF pattern is invariably cheaper and you can usually access it almost immediately
Thank you for the giveaway
Oh, they`re so lovely... i wish to know how you did it. NOw!
ReplyDeleteI like paper patterns; printers sometimes distort the pattern and it gets confusing...
I usually don`t buy patterns, but if i do, it`s for things like bags, capulets, stuffied annimals... small things.
le.paradis.found at gmail dot com
Softie and Quilt patterns all the time, the occasional bag, table runner or girls dress as well. I prefer paper patterns, but once bought a pdf for a hat from ETSY and that was good as I kept loosing it! Thanks for the giveaway, I am a follower.

I would like to buy embroidery and quilt patterns online. I once bought a great in-depth tutorial on how to recover an infant carseat - although I never did end up using it, but it was great so I may use it in the future. I don't mind pdf versions as long as I can print them. Plus you don't have to wait for it to arrive in the mail. but having the option to buy it on paper would be nice too.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI buy patterns, mostly knitting, but some sewing online all the time. I prefer to have .pdf patterns....much quicker delivery!

ReplyDeleteLovely box and sachets, but to answer your questions, I have only purchased purse patterns online, but have also researched some toy and doll patterns too, I also like the pdf form when I have a printer in working order, but either way is usually fine.
ReplyDeleteamanda dot haynes at gmail dot com
I've purchased both knitting and sewing patterns in PDF form. Lately I'm intrigued by embroidery. You do lovely work!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! Thank you for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteThe only patterns I've bought online so far have been quilt patterns and they've been in pdf, which works really well for things that are versions of squares. If I were to buy a clothing pattern or something with difficult-to-reproduce shapes, I'd definitely want some sort of pattern that I could manipulate.
1. embroidery
ReplyDelete2. yes!
3. PDF is awesome
Thank you for this opportunity!
ReplyDelete1. I am all over the place with what patterns I use so I could say any and all.

ReplyDeleteBoth of them were purchased online in PDF format. I find PDF's handy because you can get them faster and print them when you need. But I also like to get patterns from books and magazines. :)

I like to buy patterns for kid's stuff online and in PDF format. I don't like to get adult clothes or anything I need to enlarge or use lots of paper in PDF format. Those I'd rather get hard copy. I bought a wonderful bow tie pattern for my boys from an Etsy seller and love it.Thanks for the beautiful giveaway.

I buy lots of patterns online. Most are patterns for little girls, some are handbags, a few are clothing for me. I have ordered PDF and paper. I prefer paper because they are easier to store after I have traced them. Taped PDF patterns are a nuisance to fod and store but PDF patterns are convenient for last minute projects!
ReplyDelete1) Mostly quilt patterns
ReplyDelete2) All the time.
3) If the shippings not too bad, I prefer paper patterns.
I'm starting to enjoy sewing smaller quilty items...purses, pincushions, table runners.

ReplyDeleteIn regards of your questions i must say i never have bought patterns online, but i guess PDF is okay, it all depends of the complexity of the item.

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet set - I love zakka. Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteI love using PDF pattern. But I prefer buying embroideried things with high quality online
ReplyDeletei like to buy clothing patterns, usually i buy them at sew mama sew's online shop because where i live (Portugal) they are very expensive. i tend to avoid pdf patterns though, i can't quite explain why but i don't like them, there's something about old fashion patterns that wins me over. i like amy butler's patterns because the instructions are very simple and i never get them wron (english is not my mother tongue).
ReplyDeleteplease take the time to head over to my blog to participate in my giveaway too. i didn't make it to the list in time and it's something small, but there's still plenty of time and there are so few participatns that you might actually have a chance :)
I usually use free PDFs. my budget is so tight. I would use PDFs if I bought since I would not want wait for snail mail.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I have only bought a few PDF patterns for embroidery online. Other than that I usually improv my sewing things.
ReplyDeleteLoving your blog! I like to purchase knitting, embroidery, sewing and am currently looking for loose, comfortable but modern clothing patterns (ala Nari Ito) for middle aged women (with a little more in the middle ;^D ). I like PDF for knitting or small sewing patterns, but prefer paper patterns for the larger ones. mynadala(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI buy most of my patterns online...so yes I have purchased patterns online!
ReplyDeleteIf the pattern has alot of pieces I like the paper type, sent to me, if they are relatively simple I don't mind .pdfs
please take a peek at my giveaway, if you get the chance..

1) What kind of patterns do you want to buy online? Embroidery? Sewing clothes? Quilts? Making purses? Or something else?
ReplyDeleteI've bought a few knitting (socks and cape) patterns online on Ravelry, and some clothes patterns. Mainly things that don't exist for free. No embroidery patterns, as usually the picture on the website is enough for me to work from, if I did it (but I never do).
2) Have you ever purchased any kinds of patterns online?
Yup, knitted and clothing, as above. An apron pattern (Emmeline) too.
3) Do you prefer PDF type (you download the file and print it out to use) or Paper type (you receive the pattern already printed on papers)?
For knitting, PDF; for sewing, printed on paper (especially full-sized like a real pattern, not just a stack of printer paper) is easier for me.
blast, don't count this comment as an entry, but wanted to include that I like the patterns I've bought from Fashioned by Meg at http://www.etsy.com/shop/mvansciver - and she's having a sale!
ReplyDeleteI am new to embroidery but your stuff is inspirational! Very cool. I buy PDFs online if it doesn't have too many pages, usually of children's clothing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a great giveaway!
I have ordered many kinds of patterns online. I like a pdf format because you always know what you are getting when you download it. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
